Chiranjeevi original name was Konidala Siva Sankara Vara Prasad was born on 22nd August 1955 to Venkata Rao and Anjana Deviin in Narsapuram, West Godavari, Andhra Pradesh, is an Indian film actor and a politician. chiranjeevi has appeared primarily in Telugu-language films along with a few Tamil and Hindi films.chiranjeevi is popularly known as Megastar among the masses. chiranjeevi is married to Surekha, the daughter of veteran comedian Allu Ramalingaiah. They have two daughters Sushmitha, Sreeja and a son, Ram Charan Teja, who is an actor in the Tollywood. chiranjeevi's brother Nagendra Babu is a famous producer and also has acted in quite a few films, while his youngest brother Pawan Kalyan is a famous actor in Tollywood. Chiranjeevi was interested in acting right from his childhood. After completing his B.Com in 1976, chiranjeevi moved to Chennai and joined the Film and Television Institute of Tamil Nadu. While chiranjeevi was a student at the film school chiranjeevi got a chance to act in a small role in Punadi Rallu. However, chiranjeevi was seen first in Pranam Khareedu as it got released earlier. chiranjeevi got offers to act under the direction of Bapu in Manavoori Pandavulu (1978), K. Balachander in Idi Katha Kaadu (1979). chiranjeevi was cast in supporting as well as negative roles. chiranjeevi's acting in Punnami Naagu brought him his first Filmfare Award. chiranjeevi then played character with negative shades in films like Mosagadu (1980), Nyayam Kavali (1981), Rani Kasula Rangamma and followed with hero in films like Intlo Ramayya Veedilo Krishnayya (1982) and Abhilasha (1983). In 1982, chiranjeevi acted in Subhalekha under the direction of K. Viswanath, for which he received his second Filmfare Award. In 1983, chiranjeevi acted in Khaidi which brought him a huge stardom. Then chiranjeevi hit the screens with Goonda, Challenge, Hero, Donga, Adavi Donga, Kondaveeti Donga and Donga Mogudu. chiranjeevi continued to dominate with a string of films like Pasivadi Pranam, Swayam Krushi, which got him first Nandi Award. After that chiranjeevi had major hits like Yamudiki Mogudu, Khaidi No.786, Athaku Yamudu Ammayiki Mogudu. In 1990, chiranjeevi acted in Jagadeka Veerudu Athiloka Sundari which is one of the biggest hits in Telugu film industry, which was followed by Gang Leader, Rowdy Alludu, Gharana Mogudu. Gharana Mogudu is the first Telugu movie to gross more than 10 crores. In 2008, Chiranjeevi started Praja Rajyam, a political party in the state of Andhra Pradesh. Around seventeen lakh people / fans attended the launch of the party in Tirupati. At the launch, he stated that social justice was the main agenda of his party. In the 2009 general elections the party won 18 seats in the Andhra Pradesh State Assembly. chiranjeevi was elected a Member of the State Assembly from Tirupati. chiranjeevi's party recently stood for a united Andhra Pradesh and opposed separate statehood for Telangana. chiranjeevi stood both in Tirupati and in Palakollu Constituency as MLA in the 2009 general elections, winning in Tirupati but losing in Palakollu. On 6th Feb 2011 Chiranjeevi merged the 30-month-old PRP with Indian National Congress. On October 2, 1998, he founded the Chiranjeevi Charitable Trust (CCT) , which includes Chiranjeevi Blood and Eye Banks. It is the state's largest recipient of blood and eye donations. The Blood Bank of the CCT helped over 80,000 people and the Eye Bank has helped about 1000 people in the state of Andhra Pradesh since its opening. Around 3.5 lakh people have pledged their eyes to CCT so far, giving 1600 people eye sight through CCT. CCT has also won the "Best Voluntary Blood Bank Award" by the AP State Government for the past 4 years. On June 10, 2006, the then President of India, Abdul Kalam, inaugurated the Chiranjeevi Charitable Foundation (CCF) at the Jubilee Hills Check post in Hyderabad. Chiranjeevi Charitable Trust has crossed the one lakh mark in collecting blood and more than 96,000 people have been helped with blood by this blood bank. After allegations made against the Blood Bank and Eye Bank by Chiranjeevi's political rivals, the state government of AP constituted a high-level committee to look into the allegations. The committee worked under the guidance of the project director of AP State AIDA Control Society, comprising experts from finance and technical fields, verified records pertaining to the collection and disposal of blood samples, blood grouping, screening, sterilisation, bio-medical waste disposal, camps conducted, blood expiry, quality control, store room, record room and purchase of equipment.Chiranjeevi Charitable Trust got a clean chit from all allegations. Danam Nagender, minister for health and family welfare, speaking after the committee's report, said, “After thorough verification of the records, it’s concluded that there are no evidences of misappropriation, deviations from guidelines issued on collection of blood and screening charges, there are no procedural lapses noticed and all transactions are well within the guidelines of the Naco / Apsacs. chiranjeevi formed the Praja Rajyam Party (PRP) which, in February 2011, got merged with the Congress. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

Chiranjeevi is a eight time winner of Filmfare Awards and a five time winner of Nandi Awards. He also received a Filmfare Best Actor nomination for Prathibandh, his first film in Hindi.
