There is significant interest surrounding the forthcoming release Ishkq in Paris. This is because it is considered by many to be Preity Zinta’s major comeback after a long absence from the screen. Well there is now another reason for fans to get excited as superstar Salman Khan will be making a cameo appearance for a song in the film! The audience will soon be seeing him grooving ‘desi style’ to the song Kudiye di Kurtiwhich is composed by Sajid-Wajid. The composers have recently given us the highly addictive song ‘Mashallah’ from Ek Tha Tiger (2012).
According to reports, Salman instantly promised Preity (who is also the producer of the film) that he would make the appearance when she came to him with the concept over a year ago. There was some scepticism surrounding his ability to make it for the shooting of the song, as Salman was incredibly busy with the promotional tour for Ek Tha Tiger. However, being the professional actor that he is, Salman fully lived up to his promise and took a couple of days off from the tour in order to do the song for Preity.
In a statement to an Indian newspaper Preity expressed her joy over Salman’s appearance in Ishkq in Paris: “I love Salman for being a part of my first film as a producer. First experiences are always the most memorable and special and he has rocked the movie for me by looking so handsome and super-hot.”
Salman plays himself as a celebrity guest in a wedding scene where the leading protagonists are also present. Hopefully this will be another Salman song which will delight us Bollywood fans! Ishkq in Paris, starring Zinta and Rhehan Malliek will be releasing in cinemas on 5th October 2012.

After a blazing start at the Box Office that saw the opening day record of Agneepath broken by a huge margin, Ek Tha Tiger continues its world domination. The 32 crore opening day figure easily eclipsed the previous best of 23 crores held by Hrithik Roshan’s Agneepath. It also broke the record of highest single day gross previously held by Ra.One which stood at 25 crores. There were drops seen on Thursday and Friday, but the weekend dispelled any doubts regarding the longevity of Tiger. The first three day cumulative figures also registered a new record breaking Shah Rukh Khan’s Ra.One’s which was the previous best. All in all, Ek Tha Tiger has been shattering records all around.
Ek Tha Tiger became the fastest film to breach the 100 crore barrier. It did so by Monday when Eid holidays added to the on-going craze. Now the seven day total of Ek Tha Tiger stands at an incredible Rs. 137.15 crore. Boasting of such a huge opening, Ek Tha Tiger has now its eyes set upon the record held by 3 Idiots, The trade analysts are unanimous in their opinion regarding the prospect of breaking the 200 crore barrier. In the process, Salman will break the records of his own movies, Bodyguard and Dabangg. Also Salman will complete a string of blockbusters that includesDabangg, Ready, Bodyguard and Ek Tha Tiger.
The craze for Salman is an on all time high. The charm and beauty of Katrina seems to have worked. It is highly possible that Ek Tha Tiger shall appear on the horizon as the new biggest Hit in the history of Bollywood. The journey is on. The results shall be out soon! All we can do is to keep our fingers crossed and let the audience decide.

There are films and then there are Salman Khan films. The former kind needs a good script, good screenplay and decent acting chops to be liked. The latter kind just needs Salman Khan to be his own charming self. The problem with the Yash Raj Films produced Ek Tha Tiger is that director Kabir Khan tries to mix the two kinds of films and doesn’t quite manage to do a good job of it. A bigger problem is that Salman Khan’s charm is completely missing here.
Tiger (Salman Khan) is a RAW intelligence officer who believes in letting his punches do the talking. His latest assignment takes him to Dublin where he meets Zoya (Katrina Kaif), part-time caretaker of the scientist he has to keep an eye on. The two fall in love, but along comes a twist in the tale which turns Tiger’s life upside down. Now Tiger has to choose between his love and his duty towards his country.
Ek Tha Tiger is primarily a love story with huge doses of action thrown in. The action part works, and how! The film has some of the best action scenes in the history of Bollywood. However, they are brought down a notch by Salman’s low-on-energy body language. It doesn’t help that he looks paunchy and too out of shape for some of the stunts. The romance part just doesn’t work – neither the romantic comedy of the first half, nor the intense love story of the second half. A big part of the blame for this goes to the poor screenplay. It completely fails to engage the viewers and it is only during a handful of action scenes in the second half that one feels totally involved in the proceedings.
Since the screenplay is not engaging enough, the loopholes in the story itself become more apparent. And they are so many that they make the intelligence officers (of many countries) look plain dumb. Unfortunately, the dull and poorly picturised songs do nothing to brighten up the proceedings. The cinematography does deserve brownie points to highlight the local flavours of all the countries the protagonists travel to.
Kabir Khan made Katrina give her career best performance in New York and here again she shines as the spunky Zoya. Be it the light moments or the emotional ones, she hits the right notes. The biggest surprise of the film is how well she does the action scenes – in fact she trumps Salman in quite a few. Salman, on the other hand, looks quite uncomfortable playing the sauve intelligence agent. His dialogue delivery is monotonous and his expressions are all wrong most of the time. Like I mentioned earlier, the trademark Salman charm is missing. The supporting cast of Girish Karnad, Roshan Seth and Ranveer Shorey gives the film a next-level respectability, though none of them seem convinced with what they are doing.
Ek Tha Tiger is a film that had everything going for it – two biggest stars, high production values, immense hype, but once again the lack of a good script brought a potentially good film down. This Tiger doesn’t quite manage to roar.
